Now that fits the budget! And looks cute!
In the summer of 2022, I moved my window treatment business to my showroom, and I have always wanted a console table for my entry way. Someplace for a seasonal floral display and a ‘mailbox’ for customer drop off/pick up. I’m not one to spend a lot of time shopping and searching for something that might not exist with almost no budget for. Hobby Lobby and Home Goods seem to be my favorite places to shop but being outside I was looking at outdoor tables for durability. But they would be ready for planting or drinking or tons of nooks and crannies to collect dust. At $100-200 I just don’t want another complicated thing to clean!
I haven’t thought about what to use for the mailbox- I have an actual mailbox in my garage but I want to be a little more creative than that. I’m picturing a lidded basket. I’ll keep my eye out while shopping this weekend at The Geneva Market! A local event in Spring and Fall filled with vendors of all kinds! I enjoy walking through looking for creative inspiration and a bit of shopping.
Marketplace for the win!
I found this simple console table for $10, I was getting it whether it fit or not! It's a heavy, simple, wood- indoor console table. We put it in place to make sure it would fit and when it did I was excited to paint it PURPLE! While I’d consider my brand color a little lighter than this, the deep purple fits my brand and my showroom style! Rustoleum's Deep Purple.
To start off I gave the table a quick sand with 120 grit to rub off any imperfections from the 15-ish year old table. Wiped it down well with denatured alcohol.
A little prep work

2 coats of Deep Purple- 3 on the table top- it didn’t coat evenly with just 2 coats. To smooth it out after the paint I hand rubbed it with a light scrubber.
Rubbed ebony stain over the paint. For some depth in the finish. I just like that look!
2 coats of Cabot Satin Spar Varnish. I chose spar varnish over regular poly for the weather protection. It should give me enough weather protection for this table in my covered entryway.
We delivered it this weekend to its new home, my showroom's entry way. I suppose I should get a mum to put it on and find a covered basket for my ‘mailbox’.
