My Showroom Tree at the Festival of Trees

Recently I decided to use my showroom Christmas tree at a local nursing home Festival of Trees.  The Festival of Trees is a community event hosted by Scenic Living Communities in Iowa Falls, Iowa where local businesses and residents display trees through December.   So, in my busy mom lifestyle I loaded up the Christmas tree, my decorations, 10-year-old, and 2-year-old and we did it.

Three years ago, during my first Christmas in my showroom, I designed this tree for the showroom and also offered in-home holiday decorating for hire.  While the in-home decorating didn’t exactly take off I continued to use and add to the tree.  The colors I selected were to compliment my showroom atmosphere and brand color.

In the Showroom

My tree in the showroom 2024. Look no snow! We’ve had over 2’ of snow already this year!

I’ll tell you the best tool I had with me: a folding wagon!  I plopped the tote of ornaments, the Christmas tree collar, and the tree balanced on top and we were off!  The wonderful staff showed us to where my tree was planned for- they did me good!  I was put on a corner by a window, my business name: Korner Window.

Then I realized my daughter was so thorough in putting Luke’s toy back in the car…so he played with the (shatter-proof) ornaments while we stood up the tree, plugged it in, and fluffed the branches.  Followed by the purple ribbon- Korner Window’s brand color is purple.  I also love the beaded branches in ivory pearl and gold berries.

Then we started taking Luke’s ornaments and evenly spaced them all over the tree.  To my pleasure and surprise he was hanging them in a lovely line on the ribbon. I was so impressed with the fine motor skills that it takes!

No, I didn’t get a picture of that before I placed them evenly around. Also no, I didn’t leave them. The Festival is a competition.  I don’t know if I’ll get votes let alone win but I’d like to think I could.

Aside from the purple matte and glitter balls, I have them in pearl and a small collection of ivory and gold balls (those are probably not shatterproof), and lovely gold bows in 2 sizes. Finished with an ivory macrame garland.

That was Black Friday- I don’t expect traffic for most days in the showroom let alone on Black Friday- but the whole time we were there I was texting someone and ended up meeting up with them at the showroom to schedule an appointment in their home the following week.  Then I took the kids out for lunch… you could say I pay them well :)

While I’m missing my tree a little here at the showroom I’m hoping for a little exposure to my business this month while my tree is on display at the nursing home. Voting is on Facebook or in person- I believe just for ‘bragging rights’ from December 3-22.  The tree will need to be removed by January 2, I hope the 10-year-old will come with me to make it a quick job.
