The hardest part done?!!? The underneath of the table top got a good rub down with some polish. Smells of storage in the back shed are gone! One of the legs needed glued back together as it was splitting- clamped overnight and in great shape again! It was time to decide on a color. I looked at my inventory of colors and wasn’t too excited about them. The inspiration tables I had been looking at were all dark almost greyish black and I had light or red colors. I then polled some friends about what color to stain it… I heard DARK all round. A quick stop in town I picked up Espresso and Ebony. I did a test spot on a hidden part of each color- Espresso won hands down! Ebony, despite its name, was fairly light. I got the base all stained but rumors of the leaves being found I paused on the top in hopes to have the table be whole as I would want to finish them together.
